the Liberty
Because the Liberty is designed to handle greater wind loads than a typical umbrella, correct installation is essential. The average do-it-yourself home handy person can easily install the Liberty. The installation options include bolting the Liberty to a concrete patio or timber deck or installing it in-ground using a special In-Ground Fitting. A Free-Standing Base option is available for the Liberty, but is recommended only if one of the above methods of installation is impossible. The Free-Standing Base will not provide the same stability as one of the above mentioned installation methods. Please contact us for more information on a Free-Standing Base.

A. Standard Spigot
A Standard Spigot is included with each Liberty. The mast of the Liberty fits directly over the Standard Spigot, leaving nothing but the plate of the spigot showing. The spigot is bolted directly onto a base plate or in-ground fitting. The Spigot can also be bolted directly into a concrete patio if the Liberty is not to be moved or seasonally stored. The plate of the Spigot is 3/8"+, the diameter is 9", and the height is 19". The Spigot is electroplated steel with a black powder-coated base plate.
B. Standard Base Plate
If you plan to seasonally store your Liberty or want to remove the Liberty from your location for periods of time, we strongly recommend that you first install the Standard Base Plate. The Base Plate is electroplated steel and then powder-coated so it will not rust. The powder-coated color is black to match the Standard Spigot. The Standard Base Plate is included in each of the kits outlined below:
Concrete Mount Kit $165
The Concrete Mount Kit includes a Standard Base Plate, four 8X100 Excalibur Concrete Bolts, a metric drill bit and four Spigot Bolts. If you have an existing concrete patio, the Base Plate is first bolted to concrete using the special Excalibur bolts included with the Liberty. The Spigot is then bolted onto the Base Plate using the special Spigot Bolts included. When you remove the Liberty for a period of time, you simply undo the four Spigot Bolts and remove the Spigot from the Base Plate, leaving an unobtrusive plate in your patio. The diameter of the Standard Base Plate is 215mm (approximately 9 inches) and is a 1/2" thick.
Concrete Mount Kit (if you have pavers or stone Over Concrete)
If you have pavers or stone over concrete, be sure to mention this to us as we may need to send you a Specialty Concrete Mount Kit.
Deck Mount Kit $305
If you have a timber deck, you will need to purchase a Deck Mount Kit. This kit includes two Standard Base Plates, four (4) countersunk machine bolts for connecting the two base plates together (one above deck, one below) , eight (8) structural deck screws, and 4 Spigot Bolts. SEE THE DETAILED DECK INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS PDF ON THIS PAGE.
The planks of your deck are sandwiched between the two plates and four extra long machine bolts are provided to connect the two base plates. In addition, eight structural deck screws are provided to fasten the deck planks to the joists. The Spigot is then bolted onto the top Base Plate using the Spigot Bolts. When you remove the Liberty for a period of time, you simply undo the four Spigot Bolts and remove the Spigot from the top Base Plate, leaving an unobtrusive plate on your deck. The diameter of the Standard Base Plate is 215mm (approximately 9 inches) and is 1/2"+ thick.
Extra Mounting Kits for Multiple Locations
The Liberty sidepost weighs only 75 pounds so it can be disassembled and moved by one or two people. Extra Mounting Kits in other areas of your property (i.e. spa, pool, patio, etc.) allow you to simply unbolt the Spigot from one Base Plate and screw it to another Base Plate.
C. Standard In Ground Fitting $145
If you intend to install your Isla into anything other than an existing concrete patio or timber deck you will need to purchase our Standard In-Ground Fitting. Please feel free to contact us to determine the best installation option for your particular situation.
Made of galvanized steel, this Standard In-Ground Fitting is extremely strong and will not rust. The diameter of the plate is 215mm (approximately 9") and the height of the fitting is 500mm (approximately 19 1/2 "). Installing an In-Ground Fitting requires digging a suitable-sized hole, pouring concrete and placing the In-Ground Fitting into the concrete. The Spigot is then bolted onto the In-Ground Fitting.
